For many children in Lushnje, the first day of school isn't just a time of anticipation. When they don't have the money for a backpack, notebooks, books, and pencils, the new school year quickly begins with feelings of shame and a sense of not belonging.
Through our campaign, we want to help 100 underprivileged children start school with dignity. For 55 euros, a child receives a backpack and the most essential school supplies—practical assistance that can mean so much more than just a bag full of supplies.
Because a good start to school also tells a child: You are valuable. You belong here. We believe in your future.
Having their own school bag and a full set of school supplies therefore means more than just practical help. A child can go to school feeling prepared, doesn’t have to feel ashamed of what they’re missing, and feels a sense of belonging. It’s about dignity, self-confidence, and the chance to start a new school year with hope.
