30 years – Our anniversary!

“Jesus wept” – this shortest sentence in the Bible reveals the incredible empathy and love that characterizes the heart of God. He seeks the lost, strives for the new and is always willing to take innovative paths in order to be with those who need help.

In a world that sometimes seems overwhelming, we want to use our core values of initiative, empathy and innovation to meet the challenges of young people and offer practical solutions.

Supporting young people together

Initiative

We don’t want to hide youth work behind church walls, but rather go where young people are to be found. That’s why we were one of the first movements in Germany to go to schools back in 2002, offering youth work there and building a bridge to the churches. In the midst of pupils’ lives – leading pupils into the midst of life.

Innovation

We have repeatedly developed new formats and used the opportunities of the time to our advantage. We celebrated one of the first techno parties in a community and entire classes from a school attended. We went to schools as youth workers when everyone was still saying it was impossible. Digital media and communication were our second skin even before corona.

Empathy

For us, spiritual action and preaching has always been expressed in projects that meet the concrete needs of young people. If someone is in need, then you have to help them in precisely this need. As the prophetic words of Isaiah put it: “Break bread for the hungry!” But even more importantly: “Let the hungry find your heart!” (Isaiah 58)

We believe that these three basic values also describe God’s actions in the world (only in part, of course): to seek what is lost and to keep breaking new ground.

Our history

 

Pais Germany / schools – 2002-2023

In over 20 years, we have done the impossible: we have brought Christian youth work to schools and built bridges between schools and church communities. At countless schools in many federal states in Germany and in many countries around the world on 6 continents. A total of 880 young adults have worked with us for at least one year and we have reached millions of pupils. Since the 2023/24 school year, the German part has been under new responsibility: paisdach.de – More info

@home – the all-day program at the Gustav Hansen School – 1996 to 2016

It all started in 1996 with @home, or Matt’n’Pete, as it was called back then: a youth club in the old pub “Zum Großen Faß” opposite the employment office. After moving to Altonaer Straße, we then moved completely into the Gutav Hansen School as a youth center in 2003. The @home offers an all-day program from 8:45 am to 3:00 pm with an island group, homework help, lunch, a recreation room and club activities. For many (special needs) pupils, the inhibition threshold to go to a youth program is relatively high. They are simply there at school. In 2010, we founded our own association for this purpose: @home e.V..

Café Royale – the youth café in Tungendorf – 2008 until today

No matter how good a youth program may be, it is not suitable for all young people. For quite some time, a group of young people found no place in the existing offers – and unfortunately also caused a lot of trouble. On the initiative of a round table with school, youth welfare office, ASD, police, church and politicians, Café Royale was created – and has become a meeting point for precisely these young people. Adonia in Neumünster 2015 until today

In 2015, we organized an Adonia concert in Neumünster for the first time and since then (with the exception of Corona) we have organized one every year. 70 teenagers and a live band invite you to a gripping musical about biblical themes: Peter, Nehemiah, Job, the Shalk servant… 14 brand new Adonia songs, theater and dance, a cool project band and a big choir – that’s Adonia. Enthusiastic young participants who inspire us and show us in the new musical: Nothing is impossible when God gives a person a vision and we commit to it wholeheartedly. It needs you and me! Conflict training since 2007

We have identified three simple principles on how to deal better with conflicts: – A dispute never ends in violence out of the blue, but escalates in 5 phases – You always have a choice on how to act. – It helps to express your opinion clearly but in a friendly manner. Our FSJ students are constantly developing new lesson plans based on these principles and communicating them in an appealing and creative way. More information: konfliktherde.de

Playstage in Neumünster – 2008

The biggest schools-out party that Neumünster has ever seen: A week of climbing tower, sports, bands and lots of activities.

Chagall – Exhibition in Neumünster – 2007

Never before have we had so many “participants” in a project in such a short space of time. Over 5000 people either visited the Marc Chagall exhibition that we organized in the old cinema in the Fürsthof or took part in one of our school lessons in over 50 classes. During the exhibition, we published at least half a page in the Holstein Courier every day. This is how we discovered Marc Chagall’s world of color and his cycle about the exodus of the Jewish people.

Willi – the youth event in the Stadthalle

With over 50 events in the Stadthalle and most recently around 1,200 visitors, the Willi has provided good impetus for the communities in Neumünster for a long time. We were involved from the very beginning and developed and organized the Willi together with the other communities in and around Neumünster. An event that, with 60 visitors the first time, fitted into the side room of a church and has grown more and more.

Daniel Kallauch 2005 + 2007

In 2005 and 2007 we organized a children’s concert with Daniel Kallauch in the Stadthalle. You can find more information in the newspaper article or on Daniel Kallauch’s website.

Playground activities, English Speaking Holidays, A bunch of fantasy and outdoor pool activities

For a few years, we carried out playground activities in the Holstenschule schoolyard on behalf of the city of Neumünster. When we visited the swimming pool with children, we were invited to the swimming pool the following year to run an outdoor pool activity together with Jacky. We also organized ENGLISH SPEAKING HOLIDAYS, where we spoke only English with the young people for 2 weeks.
